In maths we are using Oxford Inspire long term planning guidance alongside Big Maths CLIC for calculating. Medium and short term plans are adapted according to the assessed needs of the children (particularly in Years 5 and 6 where the children have had shorter time working on the new National Curriculum). We use a range of formative assessment tools to inform our teaching of new concepts and to ensure we provide sufficient practice for children to develop as confident mathematicians. We are working towards a mastery approach so that nearly all children within a year group develop sound understanding of the concepts taught. Quick learners are extended through problem solving and deeper thinking.
